Maria Ramos did not set out to work in the mortgage industry. On her way, she had a 35-year career working at the public library. But after she retired, “sheer luck” helped guide Maria to the mortgage industry and the beginning of her much-loved second profession. There are surprising similarities between her two jobs: the close relationship with people in the community, the attention to detail, the teamwork, and the opportunity to help clients understand complex and often unfamiliar materials.

Things to know about Maria:

  • She has lived in Fredericksburg for almost her entire life. Maria has been happily married to Martin for 34 years.
  • She is deeply committed to the community and to education and has served on multiple boards and committees. Highlights include being an active participant with the Higher Education Steering Committee which was responsible for bringing the Hill Country University to town; she served on the Hill Country Hospital Foundation board; and she is currently a member of the Community Education Advisory Council.
  • An avid gardener, Maria loves to work with jewelry, is a big reader (especially Fredericksburg history), and loves, loves, loves to dance.
