AMBA Honors Kenton Brown By Establishing An Award in his Name

Michael A. Carroll Awarded First Distinguished Service Award

AUSTIN, Texas (December 12, 2012) – The Austin Mortgage Bankers Association honored the late Kenton Brown at their annual holiday celebration on December 5th by establishing the Kenton Brown Distinguished Service Award. Kenton was one of Sente Mortgage’s founding partners and vice president of the company, as well as 2012 AMBA president until he lost his battle with cancer in February of 2012. This annual award was established in Kenton’s name to recognize exceptional and outstanding service to the Austin Mortgage Bankers Association and the mortgage banking industry.

This first year’s award went to Michael A. Carroll, a 33-year active member of the AMBA and former association president. “It was quite the honor to receive the Kenton Brown Distinguished Service Award,” said Mr. Carroll. “Having known Kenton and been his friend for many years and to know how much he loved life, the mortgage industry, and the Austin Mortgage Bankers Association – to receive his award is an honor that I will never forget.” Mr. Carroll went on to say, “As a member of the AMBA for the past 33 years I know so many members that have given so much of their time and experience to the AMBA and deserve this award more than me… Kenton was a great friend and customer and to win the first KBDSA is an honor I will cherish and remember for the rest of my life.”

Mr. Carroll is a senior account manager with Mortgage Guaranty Insurance Corporation (MGIC) where he has worked for 34 years. Prior to MGIC, Mr. Carroll was a fixed income and government securities trader with Prudential Bache Securities. He holds a BBA from the University of Texas at Austin and was the 2011 president of the AMBA.

The Kenton Brown Service Award will be given annually to one current or former member of the AMBA who has at least six years of consecutive and distinguished service to the AMBA. The person must exhibit personal and professional integrity and make extraordinary contributions of time, judgment and talent to the mission and purpose of the AMBA. The honoree must also strive to bring credit to the AMBA by their work, actions and accomplishments.
